Hi there,
Nice to meet you! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and Art Therapist with over a decade of experience working in outpatient Mental Health and Substance Abuse settings. I graduated with a Bachelors of Social Work in 2008, and went on to earn my Masters of Art Therapy in 2012.
I believe in a judgment free collaborative approach and am LGBTQ+ affirming. I tend to use a goals-based approach in therapy, which means we will hone in on the results you would like to see from therapy, identify barriers or challenges that keep you from achieving these goals, and develop effective coping strategies.
Being solutions focused also requires confronting old patterns of thought and behavior that no longer serve you. A big part of my work with clients is helping them identify their Negative Core Beliefs and using creativity and humor to dismantle them. I offer trauma informed talk therapy, and sprinkle in Art Therapy for those who are curious and want to give it a try. You do not need to be "good" at art to be "good" at art therapy. Believe it or not, art averse people tend to like it the most! I only recommend art if it is clinically relevant, and we have established a foundation of trust. (ie No pressure)
I typically work with adults seeking support for depression, anxiety, trauma, low self-worth, grief and loss, or going through a major life change.
All services are via Telehealth.
I do not accept insurance and do not currently work with couples, children or families.
If you think we'd be a good fit, please reach out to schedule a free consultation. I look forward to meeting you!
In 2012, I developed an art therapy workshop called Broken Bowl based on the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi and Kintsugi. Wabi Sabi embraces the flawed or imperfect aspects of life and Kintsugi is the practice of repairing broken pottery with gold. These approaches treat the cycle of breakage and repair as a part of an object's history rather than something to be discarded so you can move through a process of confronting change, accepting impermanence, and deciding how to move forward with what is left. If you are interested in participating in this workshop please reach out for upcoming dates.
